Much has happened in my life since I last published. This post will bring anyone up to speed, as well as dive into a possible new direction for this website.

Work as a government contractor can be difficult.

I found this out the hard way in January 2014 when our company’s contract did not get resolved in time. We had to stop work, which forced me to reevaluate things.

Freelance web design was and is one of the avenues I earn income. Freelance writing has been another way.

In fact, I may like writing more than I like web design, as crazy as it sounds.

Country Outfitter Style hired me as a freelance humor contributor in May. I’ve already had two articles published:

– 13 Things Every Southern Man Must Own
– 10 Movies Every Southern Guy Can Quote

Two other articles (“10 Grilling Accessories Every Guy Must Own” and “Why You Should Take Your Family To A Baseball Game This Weekend”) will be published soon.

I’ve also launched a new blog project: Be A Better Blogger. It’s a blog designed to help bloggers improve their blogging skills.

It’s been fun getting to stretch my writing muscles.

I’ve loved writing/blogging since I began way back in 2005. With my blogging experience and my web design experience, a blog designed to help other bloggers was a natural progression.

That’s not to imply I have ceased being a web designer.

Be A Better Blogger’s WordPress theme was created using the famous Genesis Framework.

It’s the first time I’ve created a child theme for Genesis. I really, really like it. And I think it turned out great.

Also, soon I will be designing a new website for a church in Alaska. That should be a lot of fun.

Going forward

This website will no longer be just for my freelance web design work. It’s going to be the hub for all my freelance work.

So, if I have a new freelance article published somewhere, like on Country Outfitter, I’ll discuss it here.

However, when I create a new website, like the one for the church in Alaska, I’ll also discuss it here.

If nothing else, this will ensure I update this blog more frequently.

We’ll talk again soon.
